Signs your home needs repiping

Old pipes give clear warning signs:

  • Rust-colored or discolored water
  • Recurring leaks in different areas
  • Weak water pressure at several fixtures
  • Visible corrosion on exposed piping

Our plumber inspects the pipe material, condition, leak history, and pressure problems to determine whether the system needs a pipe repair, partial repiping, or a whole-home repipe. Early action cuts the risk of costly water damage to your walls, floors, and belongings.

Whole-home and partial repiping

Green Energy Mechanical provides whole-home and partial repiping based on pipe condition and the extent of deterioration. We replace multiple affected lines for partial repiping and the full supply-line system when deterioration is widespread.

Repiping materials we install

Two pipe types suit whole-home replacement: copper and PEX. Your plumber measures your home’s layout and water demand to size the new lines, then recommends copper or PEX based on the plumbing system, project scope, and budget. Both options work for hot and cold water lines.

Copper piping

Installed correctly, copper pipe lasts for decades. Choose copper when you want a rigid, long-life supply line and your budget allows the higher material cost.

PEX piping

PEX stands for cross-linked polyethylene. PEX bends around corners without a fitting at every turn, so installation takes less time and requires fewer connection points. PEX also resists scale buildup. For a lower-cost install with fewer connection points, choose PEX.

What our repiping service includes

Every whole-home repipe covers the complete job:

  • Replacement of hot and cold water lines
  • New shutoff valves at each fixture
  • Required plumbing permits and inspections
  • Pressure testing of the new lines
  • Wall and ceiling access patching
  • Water service restored overnight
  • Daily site cleanup

What happens during a repipe

1. System assessment

Our plumber inspects your supply lines, tests water pressure, and marks every fixture that needs a new connection.

2. Repiping scope and pipe routing plan

We map the route for each new supply line, mark repiping access points in walls and ceilings, and confirm the plan with you before work starts.

3. Permits and scheduling

We file the required plumbing permits and set a start date that fits your schedule. You receive the timeline in writing.

4. Pipe installation

Our crew replaces or bypasses the old galvanized or failing pipe and installs the new copper or PEX lines one section at a time, so you keep water service overnight.

5. Pressure testing and inspection

We pressure-test every new line and schedule the required plumbing inspection to verify the installation before we close the walls.

6. Wall patching after repiping

We patch the access holes made for the new supply lines, clean the work area, and walk you through the finished plumbing system before we leave.

Repiping cost and estimate

Repiping cost depends on project scope, your home’s size, the number of fixtures, the pipe material you choose, and the difficulty of wall access. After the on-site assessment, we hand you a written estimate.

Repiping warranty

Our repiping work carries a labor warranty. We state the exact terms and coverage period in your written estimate before work begins.

Our plumbers make openings in walls or ceilings where they need to run new pipes. The number and size of openings depend on your home’s layout and pipe routes.

Most homeowners can stay in their homes during repiping. Water may be off for short periods during the day, but we restore water service overnight. Your written timeline explains when the water will be off.

Our plumbers remove old pipes they can reach. Old pipes behind walls or in hard-to-reach areas stay in place after disconnection. New copper or PEX pipes carry water through your home.
